Elisabeth Caren

Elisabeth Caren is an editorial, advertising and fine art photographer based in Los Angeles (though she is often in New York and Paris).  Elisabeth’s lifetime experiences in theatre and film heavily influence her work, which has been described as classic, theatrical and cinematic. (Well, she did start writing and directing “plays” at 7 years old for her family after dinner at holiday gatherings with her young cousins as the cast and crew.)

Elisabeth’s clients include American Airlines, Atlantic Records, CBS, Lionsgate Entertainment, NBC, MTV, Sony Pictures Entertainment, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Emmy Magazine, InStyle, People Magazine, and Variety.

Elisabeth’s  fine art work has been exhibited in New York, London, Los Angeles, Miami and Toronto.   She was on the short list for Young Masters Art Prize, and her work was selected for its program cover and marketing materials.

Elisabeth recently was  won PDN’s Faces Portrait Contest in the celebrity category and was a finalist in Communication Arts 2017 Photography Awards and 2nd Place in the 2017 LA Press Club Awards for Best Portrait.  Her work exhibited at Photo Basel, Switzerland as a Finalist in the Focus/Photo LA/Stephen Cohen Gallery competition, and by placing in competitions with The MOPLA (Month of Photography Los Angeles) , APA LA, APA San Francisco and APA San Diego. She also won PDN’s Faces 2014 and  has been recognized with over 50  honorable mention acknowledgments by the 2012-2016 IPAs (International Photography Awards / Lucie Foundation).

Elisabeth graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Film from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts.  She started her career  in film development for acclaimed filmmakers Barry Sonnenfeld, David Friendly and Kathryn Bigelow, and then moved into  entertainment publicity (representing filmmakers) and marketing (at a film studio) before finally pursuing her dream of becoming a photographer. (seriously living the dream!)  She started as a unit production stills photographer and is a current member of IATSE Local 600 (International Cinematographers Guild) and behind-the-scenes with Associated Press.

Her work can be viewed at www.ecarenphoto.com.
